There was a time I believed I had to do everything on my own.
Write every line of code.
Fix every error by trial and error.
Stay up all night, Googling problems that didn’t even have proper answers.
It was hard.
It was lonely.
It was the life of a “real developer.”
Or so I thought.
Then One Day, My Editor Started Talking Back
I had just installed something called GitHub Copilot in my VS Code.
I didn’t expect much. Just wanted to “test it out.”
But the first time it finished my line of code before I even finished thinking it — I froze.
“Wait… how did it know?”
Then came the suggestions… then functions… then full logic.
It felt like magic.
Or cheating.
Or maybe… something else?
Is This Still My Code?
I struggled with that question.
When Copilot or ChatGPT writes 3 lines of my function… is it still mine?
But here’s what I realized:
They’re not replacing me. They’re helping me fly.
They don’t build the idea — I do.
They don’t understand the problem — I do.
They just help me get there faster. Cleaner. Smarter.
I’m Still the Coder — Just a Supercharged One
These tools:
- Don’t argue when I change my mind.
- Don’t judge when I forget a semicolon.
- Don’t get tired when I ask “Why is this bug still happening??” for the 12th time.
Instead…
They guide.
They assist.
They elevate me.
I no longer waste time on the boring stuff —
I use my brain to solve real problems.
The Truth?
Coding doesn’t feel like a burden anymore.
It feels like art.
It feels like play.
It feels like I finally have a sidekick.
So no, I’m not less of a developer.
In fact, I’m the best I’ve ever been.
Thanks to tools that don’t take over — but lift me up.
And whisper in my editor:
“Let’s build something awesome today.”
These tools don’t replace me — they elevate me. They let me focus on problem-solving, not syntax.
